Kelccanka and Yanamayo Community Overnight/Attempt

This weekend, my co-worker Lucy and me went to a few upper mountain communities!
We left around 6 AM to take a fruit truck up to the community. This is their only source of fresh fruits/veggies during the week, and there honestly wasn't that much variety.

We slept overnight in the home of one of our health promoters in a community called Kelccanka to see what it's like to live there and to see if we could pick up on any other health challenges that were not otherwise obvious. We had a great time getting to know our health promoters, Ana Cecilia, and her family. She graciously let us into her home and we loved it. The next day we walked 8 hours with our packs to Yanamayo, Brooke's far away community, and found out that the road was closed, so they couldn't stay there and went back on a fruit truck to Ollantaytambo.

It was an excellent and very unique experience.

¡Enjoy my hilarious/epic pictures!

I look 100 pounds heavier than I am in mountain clothes...they let me dress up in them! I also have about 5 layers on-it was cold up there!

¡Bonita!
